About

Hi, I’m so glad you stopped to check out my page. A little bit about myself, I am a middle aged working mom that lives in rural Washington with my partner of 12 years, our 9 year old son and a daughter that is 22 and comes home during time off in college. I couldn’t be happier but I have had a bit of a journey to get to where I am today. I had my first child in my early 20’s, my second in my later 20’s and my last one in my early 40’s. I keep busy with a son in third grade, a daughter in college, working and volunteering. Currently I am working full time, working on my Bachelors Degree in Business and have been homeschooling my son this year due to COVID. Needless to say I keep myself busy. I started this blog a few years ago when my son was still in kindergarten and my daughter was just graduating high school.

Basically I lived one life where I lost a husband to cancer and then my oldest son in a car accident when he was 16. My daughter and I stuck it out together and moved onto what I call our second life. I was lucky enough to have my partner in my life when my world collapsed and my son died. I don’t think my daughter or I would be doing as well as we are without his help. Him and I had a child, a son, when I was 40. This really not only started a new life for all of us but gave both my daughter and I a reason to be happy with life again. I am thankful everyday for him, my kids and my life now. I am extremely grateful.

Being a mom to a young child in my 40’s has been lot different than when I was a mom in my 20’s. I would say I have a completely different parenting style and outlook on life at this point. There are many good points to having kids later in life but there are definitely some downfalls also. This is one subject you will probably hear a lot about.

I plan to write about many topics that pertain to my life now as “the old” mom. What it’s like to keep up with a young child at my age,  dealing with college age kids, traveling with family, food and recipes, along with starting over within my own career path.

Things change and you just have to go with the flow. You can’t control many things that come at you in life but you can control how you choose to deal with them. I hope you continue coming back and look forward to connecting with all of you!
